Activities You Can Do in The Classroom with Popcorn
Stuck Inside with Your Students? Here’s what you can do!
Picture it. As a teacher, you wake up to perform your normal routine of getting up and out of the door. You make your cup of to-go coffee, grab your jacket because it’s October and fall is here, then head for your form of commute.
When you open the door, you are hit with the visual of looming clouds, no sunlight, and the promise of rain on the horizon. This totally cancels your plans to take the children outside for recess to exert their energy and you must think of something to do indoors.
Allow Topsy’s Popcorn to assist you with activities you can do in the classroom with popcorn! It’s tasty, affordable, and something that is sure to keep your students entertained.
What Activities can you do with Popcorn on a Rainy Day
- Play Popcorn Toss
This is a great game that can be played at recess that is also educational. The game can be played in teams or with a small group of players. First, you will label plastic buckets or containers with numbers that act as points earned. Second, place the buckets in a vertical line from small to large. Now, the players will stand a fair distance from the buckets to shoot their shot with Topsy’s popcorn. At the end of the game, add up their scores and announce a winner!
- Popcorn on the Head Relay
Playing popcorn on the head relay is a fun way to test your students balance and focus. The giggles are bound to come when each player takes turns in this game. You will split the children into two teams. With a small cup of popcorn, each player will attempt to walk across the room with the popcorn cup on their heads and around back to their seat without spilling it. This game is sure to be requested the next time you have a rainy day.
- Popcorn Bingo
The game of bingo just got better with Topsy’s Popcorn. In this version of bingo, pass out a small cup or handful of popcorn to each student. If possible, it’s also a great idea to use stick glue to keep the pieces on the card. Just as you would normally call out numbers for each student to mark on their bingo card, you will do the same except the students will place a piece of popcorn on each number. Once a student has “bingo’d” have them shoutout “popcorn”! Your students are going to create a fun memory using this game.
